Huntsman on expansion course

Huntsman has recently acquired the remaining ownership of its Russian joint venture Huntsman NMG (HNMG), giving it full ownership of the company. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. HNMG is a supplier of PU systems to the adhesives, coatings, and footwear markets in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

In addition, Huntsman is opening a new service centre in Warsaw, Poland, strengthening the capabilities of its Polyurethanes and Performance Products businesses across Central and Eastern Europe, and the Baltics. Located in the commercial district of Warsaw, the service centre includes a sales office, an analytical laboratory, and a meeting facility. A warehouse will also open on site in due course, says the company.

Furthermore, Huntsman has completed the expansion of its speciality amines manufacturing facility in Llanelli, Wales, UK. This expansion has increased capacity by more than 50 %, primarily for Jeffamine polyetheramines, Diglycolamine Agent (DGA Agent) and morpholine. Apart from Llanelli, the company also supplies these products from Port Neches and Conroe, TX, USA, and Jurong, Singapore, with previously announced plans to build a plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The company has also announced plans to expand manufacturing capacity of speciality amines used as PU catalysts at its manufacturing facilities in Petfurdo, Hungary, and in Barcelona, Spain. The expansions will increase existing PU catalyst production capacity by 25 %. Financial details were not disclosed.
