RUSSIA: Lukoil’s Stavrolen suspends production after fire in ethylene portion of plant

Lukoil confirmed that its Stavrolen subsidiary on 26 Feb. 2014 experienced a fire in the ethylene production unit gas separation workshop at its petrochemical complex in Budennovsk, and production has been halted.

The cause of the incident, nature and scope of damage and a date for resuming production have not yet been determined, Lukoil said.

Stavrolen has a 350,000-t/y ethylene plant, as well as facilities for the production of 300,000 t/y of polyethylene and 120,000 t/y of polypropylene.
