Unimatec presents new high temperature TPV

Unimatec Chemicals Europe, Weinheim, Germany, has entered the exclusive club of “Super-TPVs” by introducing a new material that will be marketed under the trade name AcrylXprene. The material is based on Unimatec’s heat stable acrylic rubber (HT-ACM) Noxtite.

AcrylXprene has been developed for demanding applications such as air pipes and boots.

AcrylXprene has been developed for demanding applications such as air pipes and boots.

The performance properties of the material regarding heat ageing, operation at elevated temperatures, contact to hot air, engine and transmission oil have been investigated and very promising results were obtained. AcrylXprene is designed for long term exposure to temperatures up to 150 °C and exhibits extremely low oil swell. These are key properties that make the material suitable for demanding applications in the automotive industry such as axle boots and bellows, oil cooler hoses, air intake ducts, CAC pipes, window gaskets, and speciality seals. Target applications in general include parts exposed to high temperatures in an aggressive engine and transmission fluid environment.

The TPV maintains the superior performance of the ACM base component while delivering additional benefits such as thermoplastic processing. Unimatec provides grades for various moulding conditions. AcrylXprene is available in hardnesses ranging from 70 Shore A to 90 Shore A. The product is delivered in pellet form.

Unimatec Chemicals Europe GmbH & Co. KG, a 100 % subsidiary of Japanese NOK Group, was founded in 1998 and has since then established itself as a supplier of high performance ACM and FKM rubber and chemicals. The company mainly serves the automotive industry with performance rubbers for demanding applications such as gaskets for engines and transmissions, and turbo charger hoses. Production facilities are located in Japan and Singapore.
Unimatec announced that it will market the new AcrylXprene TPV together with another “Super-TPV”, the FKM-based FluoroXprene, a brand of Freudenberg-NOK, Plymouth, MI, USA.
