New products from Woodbridge for the automotive industry

According to the Woodbridge Group, its StrataLiner 3D lightweight polyurethane composite boards now offer improved forming capability combined with high structural integrity and good acoustical performance. StrataLiner 3D can be formed into complex geometries with deep draws.

This solution is used to manufacture automotive headliners and a variety of interior parts, including load floors, deck lids, and package trays. Woodbridge says the product offers superior strength, stiffness, and acoustics at the lowest possible mass. StrataLiner 3D boards are manufactured by laminating engineered reinforcement layers to custom formulated PU substrates, providing high rigidity in a product that is up to 35 % lighter than the leading competing material, says Woodbridge.

The boards offer several product design enhancements, including optimised cost opportunities through managing density, thickness, and reinforcement layers, reduced weight, greater acoustical performance, no loft properties to improve surface quality, and recycled content capability.

Furthermore, Woodbridge announced the TrimVisible LE low emission moulded PU foam technology to meet the most stringent VOC specifications for automotive seat cushioning products. According to the company, this innovation provides best-in-class VOC reductions while its neutral colour improves the appearance of apertures in a trimmed seat assembly. The development of TrimVisible LE foams enables Woodbridge to meet very low VOC test requirements, with up to 80 % reductions of some compounds without compromising seat cushioning performance, as tested through an independent accredited laboratory.
