GAF to open two roofing insulation plants

The first plant is expected to begin operations mid-year 2012. The facility is located in Statesboro, GA, USA, at an existing 300,000 square foot warehouse and will employ approximately 50 people. GAF is currently examining potential sites in Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas for a second plant expected to open year-end 2012. Both plants are strategically located to accommodate the company’s current commercial roofing demand. Once the two plants are up and running, GAF expects to investigate locations for additional plants to provide nationwide manufacturing capability in the near future.

“We are opening these polyisocyanurate roof insulation plants in response to continued industry demand, and we believe it will greatly strengthen our position in the commercial roofing business, as well as give us the ability to produce residential sheathing products,” stated Bob Tafaro, President and Chief Executive Officer at GAF.

According to GAF, the company is a leader in the manufacturing of commercial roofing and currently sources its ISO from third parties. The opening of these dedicated plants will allow GAF to increase its service and hence offer a more cost-effective solution to its customers, says the company.
