Huntsman exploring expansion of US MDI plant

Huntsman Corporation has commissioned engineering design studies to increase the MDI capacity at its Geismar, LA, USA, site.

The company says it is studying several options for expansion of the facility. According to Huntsman, with the benefits of US shale gas, the economics of investing in the US facilities has improved significantly.

The company operates worldscale MDI facilities in Geismar; Caojing, Shanghai, China; and Rozenburg, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
