Repi broke ground for new site in US
During the CPI conference in Repi LLC, the US branch of the Italian colorants manufacturer informed that they broke ground for a new 3800 m² production site in Charlotte, North Carolina.
GAF to open two roofing insulation plants
GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, recently announced that it will soon open plants in Georgia and the Texas or Oklahoma areas to produce polyisocyanurate (ISO), an insulation material used in commercial roofing systems. The plants will also have residential sheathing capacity.
BorsodChem inaugurates new TDI plant
BorsodChem Zrt, the Hungarian subsidiary of Chinese Wanhua Industrial Group, has officially inaugurated its new TDI plant at its site in Kazincbarcika in North-East Hungary. The new facility, which is now in commercial operation, has a capacity of 160 kt/y. According to BorsodChem, this positions the company as Europe’s leading toluene diisocyanate manufacturer.

LyondellBasell finds no buyer for Berre refinery
LyondellBasell announced that the sales offering for the 105,000 barrels-per-day refinery in Berre, France has resulted in no offer to purchase the refinery. As a result, Compagnie Petrochimique de Berre S.A.S. (CPB), the refinery operator, intends to initiate consultations with its works councils, as defined under French law, on a project to cease refinery operations.

CPI to launch North American End-Use Market Survey for 2010

BASF opens a second polyurethane systems site in Russia
With a second Russian polyurethane systems site, BASF is strengthening its worldwide network of PU System Houses. In spring 2012, the applications technology centre near St. Petersburg will start operations which will provide polyurethane customers with local sales and technology services. The building will house a technology centre and office space alongside storage areas and a test laboratory.

Bayer MaterialScience showcases solutions to social challenges
China and the rest of Asia Pacific has developed both commercially and socially in just a few decades and now represents a significant part of Bayer MaterialScience’s polyurethane business. In 2008, BMS sales in the region amounted to EUR 2.1 billion (27 % of total sales), by the end of 2010 sales had reached EUR 2.9 billion (29 % of total sales). Therefore, sales value has grown by 17.7 % CAGR in the period 2008 – 2010, with PU accounting for approximately 50 % of this. More than 50 % of BMS sales are made from Greater China.
