Biesterfeld acquires Küttner

Biesterfeld AG has acquired all shares of Küttner GmbH, Römerberg/Speyer, Germany, with immediate effect. The Russian subsidiary, the OOO Küttner, will become part of the Biesterfeld group as well.

The trade names as well as the headquarters of Küttner GmbH and its subsidiary will remain unchanged. Küttner has a turnover of approximately EUR 25 million and 15 employees. 12 of them are located in Römerberg/Speyer and three in Moscow. Among Küttner’s main suppliers are ExxonMobil Chemical as well as Cabot which are also strategic suppliers for Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH, a 100 % subsidiary company of Biesterfeld AG.

The transaction, which is still subject to regulatory approval, will put Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH in a position to expand its business for thermoplastic elastomers, rubber, and rubber chemicals. Already in the year 2010, the company purchased the French trading house SMPC S.A., Cherisy, a distributor of rubber and additives. This addition initiated the group’s diversification into a new independent business unit for rubber and additives.

“With the acquisition of Küttner GmbH, which also includes its Russian subsidiary OOO Küttner, Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH continues this path. Building on a long history of success in the polymer resin business, in recent years Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH has built a specialised rubber distribution structure across western Europe. Our new addition enables us to move further into the highly strategic markets of central and eastern Europe,” said Carsten Harms, Managing Director of Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH.
