FAR EAST: NatureWorks selects Bangkok as site for first Asia Pacific regional HQs

NatureWorks, a supplier of biopolymers with Ingeo fibers and plastics made from plants, has identified Bangkok, Thailand, as the location for the company’s first Asia Pacific regional headquarters.

“In many parts of Asia, most notable China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan, as in North America and Europe, Ingeo is already helping brand owners lower the carbon footprint of their plastic and fiber products, while giving these same companies significantly improved material price stability,” explained Marc Verbruggen, president and chief executive of NatureWorks.

Rich Weber has joined the company as Asia Pacific commercial director, responsible for existing Ingeo market development work throughout the region. Previously with Cargill, Weber will also be responsible for establishing and managing new distribution relationships in Southeast Asia.

Viboon Pungprasert, general manager of NatureWorks Asia Pacific Ltd., a joint venture between NatureWorks and PTT Global Chemical, will manage NatureWorks’ Asia Pacific business from the new Bangkok headquarters.

In addition, Chi Au-Yeung has been named technology and business development specialist for the Asia Pacific region; Pauline Ning is transitioning to regional Ingeo marketing and communications manager for Asia Pacific; Kasina Samdaengdech is the business development manager for Thailand and Vietnam, and Toshiaki Yamamatsu has been appointed Ingeo technical sales development specialist for Japan.
