VIETNAM: Rubber plant opens in Phu Yen

A new rubber processing plant worth VND25 billion (USD 1.19 million) has opened in the central province of Phu Yen's Song Hinh District. Financed by Phuc Dang Gia Limited Co, the plant, the first ever of its kind in the province, will provide 6,000 tonnes of products annually.

Vietnam had fetched USD 1.52 billion from exporting more than 630,000 tonnes of rubber during the past eight months, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The exports, despite witnessing a yearly rise of 5 percent in volume, experienced a decrease of 14.1 percent in value.

China remained Vietnam's largest rubber importer, consuming 44 percent of the country's total rubber export value, followed by Malaysia with 20.5 percent.
