Repsol restarts its Tarragona cracker
During the shutdown operations, Repsol says it has invested EUR 95 million in maintenance and major technical improvements. According to Repsol, these improvements have positioned the company’s cracker in Tarragona in the top group of European crackers in efficiency and competitiveness. The cracker start-up operations were prolonged longer than expected due to the technical challenges that the enhancements needed, says the company.
As prove of Repsol’s full commitment to its ethylene customers, as well as polyols, glycols and polyolefins derivatives clients, it has been moving from its Sines site in Portugal, its Puertollano site in Spain, and additionally acquiring ethylene in the international markets, the equivalent to 70 % of the monthly production capacity of the Tarragona cracker.
