CHINA: GTC to supply technology to SSCG for new aromatics extraction unit

GTC Technology has signed an agreement with Shandong Sincier Chemical Group (SSCG) to provide its GT-BTX technology for a new aromatics extraction unit at SSCG's 5-million-t/y refinery and petrochemical complex being built in Dongying, Shandong Province, China.

The 450,000-t/y aromatics extraction unit is planned for start-up in 2016. GTC is also responsible for supplying the basic engineering package, technical services, proprietary solvent and equipment for the unit.

In April, SSCG awarded GTC a contract to provide its Isomalk technologies for isomerization units being built as part of the project at Dongying.

The project also includes a propane and butane dehydrogenation unit that will use CB&I's Catofin technology and Clariant's catalyst to process 165,000 t/y of propane and 250,000 t/y of isobutane for the joint production of propylene and isobutylene.
