Detlef Gneuss celebrates 70th birthday

The founder of Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, Detlef Gneuss, celebrates his 70th birthday in March 2012. In 1983 he founded-together with his wife Christel - the company Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH and developed and implemented the new idea of a rotating melt filtration system for extrusion lines. Today the company has some 50 patents, over 150 employees, and more than 4,000 Rotary Filtration Systems are operated globally.

One of 50 patents based on Gneuss’ ideas is the Multi Rotation System (MRS) extruder, which was introduced for the first time in 2007. Following the Rotary Filtration System, this new devolatilising extruder with its multi-screw section led to a rapid growth of the company and to an increase in turnover of more than 80 % in the past four years. More than 20 of these extruders are in operation in the PET sector worldwide. Thanks to an unrestricted FDA approval, these systems are used for the production of sheet and bottles made of up to 100 % recycled material for the food sector as well as fibres and tapes.

Apart from Filtration Technology and Processing Technology, the company’s third sector of business is Measurement Technology. Also in this sector it was Detlef Gneuss who went new ways by introducing mercury-free pressure transducers and melt temperature sensors with ceramic insulation to the world market.

Some five years ago Detlef Gneuss initiated a generation change within the company and smoothly transferred the operative business to his sons Daniel Gneuss and Dr. Stephan Gneuss.
