IISRP elects John Lyon as President for 2012 – 2013

John Lyon, Global Vice President, Butyl, ExxonMobil Chemical, was elected President International of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers (IISRP) for the year 2012 – 2013. He succeeds Antonio Protopapa, Commercial Director of Polymers at Polimeri Europa, who now becomes the Past-President International.

Formerly, John Lyon was Vice President, Synthetics, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. There he was responsible for the synthetics fluids business. He has also been the Vice President, Global Marketing for ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Company.

A 1981 University of Minnesota graduate in mechanical engineering, Lyon joined ExxonMobil in 1984 after a short assignment with U. S. Steel. He began his ExxonMobil career as an Industrial Sales Engineer and has spent most of his time in the company's downstream business. He has held a variety of marketing, technical, supply and management positions prior to being named to his current assignment in August 2009.

In addition to Lyon, who will also serve as President to the Americas Section, the other twelve members elected to the Institute Executive Committee for the year 2012 – 2013 are:

  • Far East Section: Wang Yuqing of Sinopec, President, and Hideyuki Sugishita of Ube Industries, Vice President.
  • European Section: Ignacio Marco of Dynasol, President, Mikhail Gordin of Sibur, Vice President and Abraham Brink of Karbochem, Standing Member.
  • Americas Section: Barton Bowser of Dow Chemical Vice President and Tim Gorman of ISP Elastomers, Standing Member.
  • Continuing to serve on the Executive Committee are Antonio Protopapa, of Polimeri Europa, Past-President International, Wei-Hua Tu of TSRC as Treasurer and James L. McGraw, IISRP’s Managing Director & CEO, Assistant Treasurer and Secretary.
