SPE names new President and new CEO

James S. Griffing

James S. Griffing, a technical fellow at the Boeing Company, was appointed as new President of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) for 2012 – 2013, succeeding Russell C. Broome. An SPE member since 1989, Griffing most recently held the positions of President-elect (2011 – 2012), Senior Vice President (2010 – 2011), and Treasurer of the SPE (2009 – 2010).

At Antec 2013, Griffing will be succeeded by the new President-elect, Jon Ratzlaff, who is a Technical Services Manager for Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. An SPE member since 1995, Ratzlaff has chaired numerous positions and served as an SPE Vice President and recently as Senior Vice President of SPE (2011 – 2012).

In January 2012 Willem (Wim) De Vos has been named as SPE’s new CEO. He succeeds Susan Oderwald, who left SPE in December 2011. De Vos comes to SPE after serving as CEO of the Vitalo Group. Previously, he managed compounding and processing units of Recticel. He entered the industry in 1991 with technical and sales positions at Euro­compound. A member of SPE, he most recently served as chair-elect of the European Thermoforming Division.
