Dow Automotive System introduces new interior trim adhesives
MOR-AD 301 adhesive, especially developed to meet the requirements in the automotive headliner business, functions as a drop-in replacement within the well established and widely used production parameters to produce one-step and two-step headliners. According to Dow Automotive Systems, with the MOR-AD 301 adhesive, the performance expectations created by its predecessors, the MOR-AD 460 series, are fully met if not exceeded.
MOR-AD 301 adhesive, a solvent and NMP-free sandwich adhesive, undercuts the required VOC and fogging levels from VDA 278 significantly, and even shows no significant volatiles after the cure, says the company. Relating to the stepwise implementation of REACH and accompanying new classification of all raw materials, MOR-AD 301 adhesive does not contain any DBTDL (di-butyl-tin-di-laurate), the widely used catalyst in the PU adhesive segment. In consequence, potential requirements from the automotive OEMs to remove this catalyst have been taken into account and, with MOR-AD 301, already been delivered, says Dow Automotive Systems.
MOR-AD 501 adhesive, representing a solvent-based, highly reactive laminating adhesive, meets the VDA 278 defined limits and is also manufactured without NMP. The exceptional reactivity as well as its new composition provide a shorter drying time. It thus has the potential for additional productivity gains within the standard lamination process, says the company. In addition, MOR-AD 501 adhesive is DBTDL-free as well.
