Microencapsulation technology for PU flexible foams

The Italian company Orsa Foam SpA has developed the i-fo@m technology, that uses microspheres to introduce active substances into PU flexible foams. According to the company, the microspheres increase the lifetime and effectiveness of its active ingredients, even years after encapsulation.

i-fo@m Thermo is a foam containing microspheres with a phase-changing material able to thermo-regulate the zones in contact with the body, creating an ideal microclimate. i-fo@m Active is a foam including active carbon, capable of reducing unpleasant odours and to absorb organic substances, for application in footwear and sportswear. i-fo@m Silver contains silver as a natural antibiotic to safeguard the hygiene in mattresses, sportswear, footwear, and the household sector. i-fo@m Elisir is a foam that includes microspheres with essential oils for a pleasant odour, used for the production of mattresses. i-fo@m Chrome contains microspheres with substances that can reversibly change colour on contact with heat or when exposed to sunlight for medical, household, packaging, and personal care applications.
